Bromelton development concerns Beaudesert residents

Posted Wed Oct 3, 2007 8:42am AEST

An environment group says Beaudesert residents in south-east Queensland are worried about the size of an industrial city planned for their shire.

The Logan and Albert Conservation Association says the proposed Bromelton development would be about 27 kilometres long and seven kilometres across at its widest point.

The association's secretary, Anne Page, says more than 260,000 people are expected to move into the area over the next 30 years and that will damage lifestyles and habitats.

"The Bromelton industrial estate is actually proposed to occupy some of our remaining areas of good agricultural land on the western side of the Logan River," she said.
